(I am not sure that all these steps are needed but it worked for me) The next image you take will be DSC0002 etc. Then after you have taken an image (DSC0001), reformat the card again and set the menu back to series. Now you can simply reset a card to DSC0001 by formatting the SD Card and changing the menu from "series" to "reset". So when you put a brand new card into the camera, it will also start at DSC1000 because the menu is set to "series" Since you have used an SD card that previously held Sony images, the count starts after the last image number on the card (even if you reformatted it). I also erased and formated another SD card and its showing DSC2328, so either I must use a brand new card to check the count or it really has this many clicks so far. I've tried OOC jpeg/raw and no luck at all, only thing is jpeg will process but shows zero shutter count and i've fired atleast 50 so far. The tools.science website doesn't work for the a7RII - it's not a supported camera yet. If you put a SD card that you have used previously into the camera before formatting, it might pick up the file # from where your previous camera left off.Anyone able to get or EXIF data reader to show shutter count for the A7Rii.
That's puzzling why would the file # be higher actual count? BTW the imagecount wasn't 5434 it was 4687. The space after imagecount did it! Thank you so much for your help. (Make sure the file DSC05434.ARW in on your desktop)
It should work on your Mac as long as you installed exiftool and use the proper formatting:Įxiftool -s -G -All:*Count* /Users/charleswoodrich/Desktop/DSC05434.ARW
I'll try it on a PC and see how that goes. (Notice the spacing before your image link) Before you drag the image to the terminal window make sure there is a space after the word image count.Įxiftool -imagecount /Users/charleswoodrich/Desktop/DSC05434.ARW Invalid TAG name: imagecount/Users/charleswoodrich/Desktop/DSC05434.ARWĬharless-MacBook-Air-2:~ charleswoodrich$Īlmost there.

This will add the file location right after the word imagecountįred - thanks for sticking with me on this. just wish it worked better or I knew if/what I am doing wrongĢ) Open terminal and paste: exiftool -imagecountģ) Locate your last AWR file on your hard drive and drag it to the terminal window. Select User/(name)/Pictures/Photos Library.photos/Masters I got it to work on random images but not most and not sure why it does work or not work
I also tried the A7info app and had the same problem of how to get the app to recognize and image. I tried a few things but pop up boxes in German came up and I just cancelled out of them. It displays the folders in my hard drive (Mac) but doesn't recognize the images.
I also tried the A7info app and I couldn't figure out how to get any images into it. I found the terminal window and entered "exiftool" and this very long narrative came up. I appreciate the help, but I guess I'm a little slow in this area. It's also cool that it shows "focus location" even when shooting with a MF lens!Ĭheck the white target on the girl's eye on the right It's also displayed on the top right window under "shutter": It's also available for other camera makes too, not just Sony. It has lots of info about camera shutter count, where you focused, battery temps etc. I highly recommend "A7Info" which is free. It is in the exif of each jpg, but you need a good viewer like exiftool. Probably user error! Any way how do I determine the shutter count on a Sony a7RII? I'm sure this has been covered before but the search function isn't working for me on this subject.
